Laptop search

I'm looking for a laptop for college, here's my wants:

- light ~5lbs
- pentium m
- 512 mb min
- ~60gb HD
- low end ATI or NVIDIA card (occasional gaming)
- price ~$1300

I was looking for a tablet and was going to buy a Toshiba M200 off someone, but I wasn't sure.

For regular desktop I've thought of Dell D610 or Inspiron 6000. Otherwise I haven't seen any laptops that fit my wants.

Thanks for any suggestions

For what you're talking I think a Dell Latitude D610 or Inspiron 6000 is your best bet. The X300 won't be very suitable for baseline gaming though; we're talking older games or newer ones @ low res (800x600 or lower).

Your price is inhibiting because of your GPU. You could spend more on an Asus model and get an X600 GPU, which would be better; or better yet an X700.

Acer will be coming out with their Aspire 5020: AMD Turion 64 (about 10% less battery life than Pentium M but 10% more performance), 15.4" WXGA, X700 GPU, around $1200 starting.

If we ignoring the gaming and just get discrete graphics, I would get a Latitude D610. It is portable with the 14.1" screen and comes with a 3 year warranty. The Inspiron 6000 is a 15.4" and a small one at that, but still large and won't be the best for portability. Upside to it is that you can get it fully loaded and use one of the great Dell coupons to make it cheap.
