Laptop screens toxic?

I've encountered a few broken laptop screens in recent months, and I've been wondering - are laptop screens toxic in any way when broken?

Thanks!

Most of today's laptops use Thin Film Technology (TFT) that is backlit. I am not aware of any toxic materials involved in that. This site may have more info. Good question!

The flourescent tubes in LCDs are the same thing as the flourescent lights above your head. I think those bulbs contain phosphorous, which is irritating to the skin. I am guessing I have handled around 150 broken screens in past year or so and I haven't had any problems... cough cough, oh my fingers burn.... just kidding 🙂
