I have a dell 640m and the hinges broke so I got them replaced. It wasn't done by dell, rather, it was done by a little computer shop. When I got it back I noticed that the screen no longer turns off when it is shut. I dont really want to go back to the shop because it's far away and I just don't want to deal with them anymore so I'd rather do it myself. I opened up the cover above the keyboard where the hinges are and I can't seem to find any sort of mechanism or sensor to detect when the screen is closed. Do the hinges themselves do this? And now since I have shady aftermarket hinges is there any hope my laptop screen will ever turn off when it is closed?
