Laptop screen very dark

I have an HP DV6000 series laptop. I can still see everything normal on the screen when I tilt it to a certain angle, but it is very dark. It works perfectly fine when I run it through an external monitor. I replaced the lcd screen and the inverter to no avail. I do see a burn in the sheathing on 1 of the connectors that lead into the inverter. If I fix this wire, what are the chances it may fix my problem? Don't want to spend any more money, if the chances are low that it will fix my problem Thanks in advance!

I replaced the entire LCD panel with a new LCD panel. I asssume the backlight is contained within the LCD unit itself.

Yes, this is correct. And I dont mean to sound insulting, but you have pressed the funtion + brightness up combo correct?

Sounds like a good chance to me.

I apologize. I didn't see that bit. I'd agree that it's probably the inverter connector/cable.

Yes, I tried to turn up the brightness. I guess I'll take it to a shop to have it soldered. Thanks for the replies.

You may have a tough time with this, better chance of ordering a new LCD harness (cable that goes from motherboard to LCD/inverter).

Ok so as of now I have replaced the entire lcd screen, inverter, and lcd harness.

Unfortunately I am still having the same problem.

Any ideas? Thanks
