Laptop screen flickering - anyone know how to fix?

For several months now, I've had a problem with my HP dv3t display. It started off as an occasional flicker, maybe once every hour or so. Now it's happening at least once every minute or two... Sometimes it lasts for up to 10 seconds. It seems to happen less when I extend the screen all the way back. When I hook it up via the HDMI port to a monitor or HDTV, the external display doesn't flicker, but the laptop still does while connected... so I imagine it might not be a problem with the video card. Maybe a loose connection somewhere?

Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbpiPuM3aqs
It happens at 0:07 and 0:18

Lemme know if you know what's happening or have any suggestions, thanks!

Agreed could be a loose connection, inverter or problem with the LCD itself. Try opening it up and check the cables unless it's under warranty. Laptops are much harder to get back together than a standard PC.

inverter = yes

Controler = depends if its a card, or if its built into the motherboard. (motherboard would run 150+ and they are a pain to replace)

The fact that you say it happens less often when the screen is all the way back means it could be a loose cable as well, remove the kb and then reseat the cable and see if it helps, otherwise have a look at corkeyg suggestions
