I know several people that use MacBook Pros as their only a computer. SSD only would be a deal killer for them, they have too much data and external storage is not an acceptable solution (a couple already have installed 3rd party 2 HD solutions).

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple goes that way but I know a lot of people that will hate it. I am not sure they will hate it enough to leave the Apple fold but as Apple seems to ignore the needs of professionals on a more frequent basis, they may see it as the writing on the wall and move on.
