Laptop restore

So I have this Acer laptop 3680-2633 that I bought from best buy that came with Vista. I formatted the drive and installed WinXP. However now I can't seem to get the wireless card to start despite installing the driver. I'm thinking I need to install some proprietary thing or something, does anyone have any advice for this particular situation or to install other devices on this system? Its happened with other devices too where it is installed but in the device manager there is the little yellow exclamation point next to it.
