The external power brick? if you dont get voltage from the tip a replacement should be easy to get

Internal parts on the other hand are hard to find, and mainboards run around $500-1500 from the major ripoff artists (er I mean refurb parts vendors)

Most laptops have the power jack right on the mainboard, no internal "power supply"

Maybe borrow a power brick (be sure to read the amps and voltage ratings) for a similar VAIO.
If that does'nt work then your laptop itself may have issues.

Please keep us posted specially where one can get these laptops serviced.

Thanks!

the internal powersupply , or whatever it is, is usually on the mobo. usually costs a TON to get a new mobo.

The external power brick converts AC from the wall into DC, you dont have a "power supply" in the laptop

I'd be asking myself...."How old is this thing?" and "Is it still under warranty?"

If you still have warranty, you can save yourself about $50 cause that's what the power supplies usually run for most laptops. I'd call sony support (should be a number on the laptop or with the manuals. They can help you out because resellers probably won't know as much about the product.
