Laptop recs? T470?

I've got a 10 year old Macbook Pro that needs to be replaced.

Looking for something windows based that'll be reliable, good battery, general use; email, surfing, etc.

Looking at a T470 from lenovo's website - either the top model or the one under it - probably the one under it if that I5 is decent;

Any better laptop recommendations and or deals? I'm a bit partial to the Lenovo for build quality, but I could be swayed. Thanks.

I like Lenovo laptops, had a t470p for about a year, now on a t480. Both solid laptops, the 480 is better on battery life, has facial recognition, and a smaller power brick. I'm mobile, so these things work better for me.

I also find the Lenovo system update software to be easy to use and not buggy.

IMO, you won't be unhappy. If you're a mobile person and will be dragging the laptop around with you, splurge on the accident coverage.

As much as I like the lenovos, upgradability is limited, ie wifi card can't be replaced unless you white list the bios.. I had t400-460s, t5xxs, x200-x240s. All extremely reliable. I just wish I can drop in a newer wifi card without issues. I recently drop in a msata ssd into a x41, making it great to reuse

I've always been a fan of the Lenovo T/X series laptops - been using them since the T520/X230 days. Sometimes the Lenovo Outlet has really good deals on clearance or refurbished models, and they come with the exact same warranty (1YR) as a new one.

Lately we've been mixing in some Dell Latitudes in and have found them to be very reliable as well. Look into the 5000 and 7000 series, the 3000 are plastic junk. Again - some decent deals can be found on the Dell outlet, they often have coupon codes that can be added, and have the same warranty as new.

We've bought 10 new laptops for work in the last year (Dell/Lenovo) all from the outlet. Only had problems with one Lenovo and I am pretty sure that was user damage. That took 3 weeks to get serviced, first time I've ever had a bad service experience with Lenovo.

Dell Latitude 7480 and 7490 laptops will fair better in battery life than the Lenovo T series.
Lenovo T series laptops, need to be very picky and do research.
If you want phenomenal quality and battery life, try the X1 Carbon series.

T4xxS models have terrible battery life, no question.
Some P series can be an energy drainer because of the beefed up CPU and other factors.
So best to stick with the T4XX series if you don't like software modding, so non-S and non-P, for optimal battery life in the engineering.
