Laptop recommendations

Ive got a buddy in the market for a new laptop. Whats the best bang for the buck? As much searching as ive done, everything laptopwise is either budget or balls to the wall gamer expensive.

What type of laptop you looking for? Desktop Replacement (i.e. Heavy but big screen and powerful) or ultra-portable? In my opinion the best value is always when Dell does it's -$750 for Laptops over 1500 deal. Usually they do that at the end of the Quarters to boost sale numbers and move inventory. You can get any type of laptop they sell at bargin rates. Without the specific needs of your buddy it is hard to give a specific recommendation though.

It really depends on what you're looking for. HP/Compaq and Dell are pretty neck-and-neck for budget laptops. If you're spending $1,500 or more, Gateway offers some interesting deals. Also, Newegg has some Acer models that are competitively priced.

Before you buy, make sure you check out all four of those vendors.

Check this out brad, from the hotdeals section. An unbelievable deal, especially since some people are getting the 3000 cpu with a dvd burner, all for $500.

It seems to be out of stock.

It will take a phone call or a visit to your local store.
