I am currently in the market for a $1300 or so laptop and was looking for potential ideas as to what I should get. I am upgrading from a 9800 Pro 2.8 P4 desktop and am planning to do a decent amount of mid end gaming on my laptop.

Generally speaking, I am looking for a laptop in my price range with at least 2 gigs of ram and if possible an 8600M GT, and preferably an Intel cpu. All other features such as HD space, screen size, even battery life are all secondary to the laptop having decent video, ram, and cpu.

I was looking at the Battalion 101 CZ-7 Ultra at www.ibuypower.com, which more than matches my desired specs and falls decently below my max price, but after some research decided against it as ibuypower is apparently a terrible place to buy a computer or laptop from.

Any suggestions and recommendations would be much appreciated.

14" with an ATI HD2600 - $1200: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834220240 (Asus F8). It comes with 1GB of RAM, but you can upgrade it when you get it for about $40 by buying a 2GB stick of RAM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...tion=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

At the 15.4" size, there is the Asus F3 with the 8600M GS (which is about on par with the HD2600) $1150-$1300: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...0181%2CN82E16834220227 (differences lie only in the screen resolution, except the one with the WSXGA+ display has a slightly faster processor (2.2 instead of 2.0))
--If you want to go cheaper with the F3, there are AMD variants that come with the HD2600 and a Turion X2 processor (~$850)

You could possibly find these notebooks from another store for cheaper prices, but probably not by much.

Is an 8lbs (pulled from Cnet) notebook really the best notebook, especially since it is only a 15.4" notebook as well?

I second the Asus F8 series. They have been getting great reviews and will do what you want as far as gaming is concerned.
