Laptop recommendation for my son

His previous laptop went kaput so we need to replace it. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get him into building a desktop but he’s convinced he needs a laptop "because of school". He’s in the 9th grade so there is no way the laptop will ever leave his desk but he doesn’t realize that, but because he spends a lot of time at his mothers it might be for the best anyways.

It’s been years since I’ve really looked into computer hardware so I don’t really know what’s out there, what’s good or bad, and what price ranges are. He'll be using this for gaming but it seems like most of the things he plays looks like it’s from a Super Nintendo - Stardew Valley, Terreria, and his new big thing is League of Legends.

Here's my criteria:

Budget of about $7 to 800
Needs to be able to play those games with hopefully some wiggle room to play more demanding things
Matte finish screen not glossy

Any help in finding one or guiding us in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

anything with a amd 4000 series id say 🙂 i dont have time to really search models and glossy vs matte screens but i imagine most of the 4000 series is not out yet and you must wait another month.
