Just trying to figure out what could be wrong with this box. Besides a blown sound chip, it's worked great for a few months, and now it's starting to go bad on me. :| It shuts down randomly, and I can't figure out what from. Could be heat, but it doesn't seem hotter than normal. How should I check?

Specs:
Toshiba 1005-s157
Celeron 1.06ghz
512mb ram
15gb laptop HD...

thanks,
Rob

That lappy seems pretty recent.

Have you called, or e-mailed Toshiba tech support?

If you are saying that the sound has been "broken" for some time, I would say that the mobo is on the way out. It would be odd that the sound is broke, and nothing else. Sure sign of things to come:(

Is it still under warranty? If so then I would get it in to Toshiba to fix it for you since it's a pretty new model.

You could try a reload and refresh everything cause Windows can get pretty buggered up after awhile.
