Hello all,
I have a Sager laptop in my shop that has completely stumped me. Customer brought it in thinking it was the Hard Drive we had installed about 9 months prior. The computer stays on for about an hour, then shuts off, tries to reboot, but shuts off shortly thereafter, etc, etc.
It screamed an overheating problem to me. I ran a virus scan first, and the computer was clean. Then, I popped in a copy of MemTest 86, to take the hard drive out of the equation. It crashed after an hour or so. Just shut off and restarted. I checked the heatsink (Celeron 500), and it was really cool.
I ran it again without the fan on, but leaving the heatsink attached, same thing, but the processor still wasn't hot enough that it should reboot.
I switched out to a stick of memory, and the same thing continues to happen.
Anyone have any guesses?
