As soon as I saw that he wanted a price quote I was just going to drive-by post with 'Uhhh, about Tree-Fiddy!', but you know, that really is about the most that he can expect to get for that system.

OP, what are the dimensions on that system? If it is thin and light you might be able to get a little more money for it. Also, how well does the battery hold up or how much is a new one. I have no interest in buying it, but these are important things to know.

theres kinda a no price-check rule, fwiw, though nobody seems too strict about it.

generally if you want a price check on a pc component, hit up ebay. thing is, laptops sold on the forums here always go way, way below the ebay price, though i think the ebay going rate is usually a little more fair, its also...ebay

Dell Financial Services - off lease in very good shape:

You can get a Latitude D610 for $320-50, with less RAM but with a 100-day warranty and a battery. So $350 is about the most I'd pay for a 4-5 lb used laptop.

A brand new laptop that's better in everything except weight is only ~$400 now.

This. With all the new deals of $400-500 laptops, the most you can expect would be $250. With no battery you are looking at $200.
