Having some issues with my new laptop

Lenovo thinkpad 3000n100

wireless is just fine works perfectly and the blue tooth is just fine. however when i connect to the hard line through my router i can never get a network adress. is this a router or a laptop problem?

specs:
intel core duo 1.83 ghz
1.5gb ram
geforce go 7300
integrated hi-def audio
 
try hooking up the laptop to the router, then reseting the router - either with the reset button or by simply unplugging it and plugging it back in.
