I just got a new laptop and I'm not very familiar with the battery/power components of a laptop. Once you get the battery charged up, are you supposed to remove it while using AC Power so it won't get overcharged? I will mainly use this with AC Power but occasionally I'll need the battery, so once its charged up, do I need to remove it while using AC power?

The manual says something about this (IBM Thinkpad R31).

don't worry about the battery being overcharged as the software will prevent that happening.
for what it's worth, I leave my battery in permanently even if using AC continously. :)

Well, I put the 2nd battery (I bought 2) in and it charged to 100% and the Thinkpad software said it was through charging and there was no activity. Now it went down to 99% and it says charging again. The full capacity level is 43.2 and it is at 43.1 and dropping extremely slowly... I wonder why it would drop when it is plugged in?

Once it reached 100% the charger probably shut off. When it gets down to a certain point it will probably start charging again.

Lithium Ion Batteries are smart. They won't overcharge. IIRC, thats a bug in windows. Don't worry about it, leave the battery in...and be happy.
