Laptop Question

I am planning to buy a laptop. However, the linksys router at my home is wired. I want to make use of the wirless capabilities the laptop. So do I just buy something like this:

To access the wired internet through wireless?

that will work but at that price you mind as well buy a wireless access point, which has more features.
