Laptop question

What exactly is a inverter on a laptop ?
Specifically a inverter for the backlight on the LCD.

How difficult is it to replace ?

Where is it located on the lappy ?

Where would I find a replacement ?

HP laptop 😉

The backlight for the lcd is a cold cathod fluorescent bulb, that runs off high voltage. The inverter converts the low laptop battery/dc power (probably around 16v) to a much higher voltage for the CCFL. The inverter is usually in the surrounding casing of the LCD, either to the side or along the bottom. It's easy to replace once the lcd casing is opened, it just unplugs. Find replacements on ebay, etc. They're not very complicated, and thus should be cheap...but that's hardly the case when it comes to laptop parts.

How do you know it's the inverter that has a problem?

inverter COULD be the problem, sometime the backlight is dead and sellers dont see that.

inverters depending on laptop make can be easy to find.

I decided against buying it, I may be a wiz at vehicle repair, but I am a total n00b when it comes to taking apart a lappy 🙂
