Laptop problem

Got a Dell LS400 laptop. Installed windows xp on it. When try to dock it while its on it gets like a dooms day message asking me to save everything or it will be lost. Then number count down and it doesn't power off, just a grey screen. The power led still on, but can't wake it up. Have to hold down power button for couple seconds to power off.

WHat is this? Some kind of hibernation that don't wake up?

Anyone experience this before? Please help.
