Laptop Problem with LCD

Hi, I have a very annoying issue with my laptop. Everytime I move or adjust the LCD, I get horizontal lines flickering across the screen. I know that it's either the inverter or ribbon cable. It may even be the backlight but the thing is, if the display isn't moving, the screen is fine. I've also noticed that the flickering only occurs when I'm pulling the screen towards me (as if I'm going to shut the lid).

I'm trying to find out which is the culprit so I can buy the correct part off of eBay. Thanks in advance.

Based on your assessment of a motion induced anomaly, I would lean towards the ribbon cable. It may simply need to be re-attached.

Thanks for the reply. I actually took the laptop apart and reseated the cable the other day and I did see an improvement. However, when I reseated the cable, I also cleaned the inverter so I couldn't pinpoint which one was the culprit.

What happens if the inverter is bad? Doesn't that just prevent the backlight from coming on?

ribbon cable bad = video corruption or red/blue/green/white screens
lcd bad = cracked or flickering or lines/bars across screen also sometimes whitescreen
inverter bad = dim screen or white screen

edit: try flexing the corners of the lcd screen, dont worry it wont crack as easily as you think. if the display starts messing up more, your lcd is bad.
