Laptop is an IBM R32, I don't know when or why this happens, but it seems to happen (I think) after power management kicks in. It definitely doesn't happen right away.
Anyway, basically what happens is the CDRom just seems to disappear. You can't find it in the device manager, or anywhere else, and have to reboot the computer to be able to use it again.
Windows has been reinstalled. The system board has been replaced. The CDRom has been replaced. Bios has been flashed and reset to defaults.
Tough problem -- any ideas?
Rob
