Laptop Power Supply Question

My power supply for my Latitude has a short in it.

Rather than screwing around with it, I have a Spare 150w Official Dell power supply meant for a Alienware M17x Laptop laying around. I purchased it when I had my M17X as a spare, and it's never been used. I forgot I had it till I was digging through my parts closet. My Latitude's PSU is only 65w.

The plug is the same size. Am I safe to use it with my latitude? From my understanding it should be ok but want to be sure!

If it is the same voltage, polarity and number of wires/terminals (some note book supplies employ three wire systems) it probably will be okay. Test the whole thing out carefully with a good meter before you proceed since any mistake could be costly.

I would say that since they are from the same company, all you need to worry about is the voltage rating, if that's same it should work without worries...
