laptop power problems

i have a ze4325US laptop, and recently, the power button hasnt been working to turn on the laptop, i have to push and hold it or keep pressing it for it to turn on, but using it to turn off is no problem, it goes to the shut down prompt with one press. i dont think it is a hardware problem because, now, when i close the lid, and open it back up, the screen is dark, eveyrthing is stil there, but no light, i have to tap the mousepad, click or type stuff for it to come back on which takes myabe 10-15 seconds. i tried looking in the power meter section but it under DO NOTHING when i close lid. what could the problem be?
