Laptop Power Cord question

I have a HP nc8000 laptop from work, with a power supply that lists the following input/output specs:
Input: 100 -- 240V ~ 1.6A (1.6A)
Output: 18.5V(18.5V) --3.5A

I just bought a extra power cord on eBay that had the NC8000 listed as a compatible adapter. The plug is the same size, but has a black rounded tip, while the original one is yellow at the end. The new power adapter specs are listed as
Input: SAME as original
Output: 18.5 VDC 2.7A

I plugged it in for a minute, and the power light came on, and it didn't start smoking or anything.

Any chance I can mess up my laptop?

Thanks!
Tim
