Laptop power connection point broke

The back connector on a Compaq laptop was chipped in an accident, to the extent that now the AC wire can not fit in it properly. I cant send it back to the manufacturer, it was bought from someone years ago. I wish I could take a picture to show exactly how it looks, but the connector now is 4 copper wires at equal corners. Before the accident there was another peice of plastic that went over them and converted into 4 copper intakes. Any ideas how to fix it?

you can try pulling the mainboard out and soldering the connector back on.

If you do, and it works put a huge glob of hotglue/epoxy on it to hold it in place.

Dont worry it happens to lots of compaq owners, the power port is very weak on a lot of models

The problem is I dont have the small plastic peice that goes over the 4 prongs, it was lost. We tried a few computer repair shops but they have no clue, they just want to sell me a new battery. Anyone know a competent repair service that I could mail it to?

Get the Compaq spare part # from the mainboard, shop around the net and see if you can find one cheap(search the number on google, @bay, ...)
