Laptop PCMCIA Wireless Cards

Say you have a Netgear router at home with a Netgear wireless PCMCIA card, can you go to a friends house and use his Linksys wireless router in on your Netgear wireless card? Basically, can all PCMCIA cards be used universally? Also, can you recommend a good wireless B or B+G PCMCIA card?

Yes you can use any brand card with almost any brand router. I have used a dlink, linksys, and now an orinoco with my dlink and smc routers and they all work fine. Occassionally, I will go to my friend's house and use his wireless router as well with no problems.

yes, you can do that as long as you are both using 802.11b or g routers and cards or A routers and A cards. as for cards recomendations, netgear has some good ones that are G/B and A/B/G but most people like the Dell/Orriconco Gold cards.
