okay so my laptop has a pci slot but also has integrated wifi. its possible to shut off the integrated wifi and use a card with an antenna input normally?

Your laptop has a PCI slot? I think you mean it has a PCMCIA slot, otherwise it would be rather large. Anywho, yeh, you can shut off the integrated (most have a switch or you could always just do it in the drivers) and plug whatever you want into the PCMCIA slot and it will work.

No, it shouldn't. I did this before and it was fine. You can just disable the onboard one in Device Manager.
