I'm sitting outside in the sun, browsing AT and various other sites.

I have to strain my eyes to see anything though. The glare is crazy. It's a TN panel.

Is there anything I can do to minimize the shininess?

Brightness is already maxed.

This, especially for a laptop screen. I personally hate glossy screens for any application though.

If you don't know how to get shade, you could plant a Tree, or you could use an umbrella. Or, if you are poor and can't afford an umbrella, you could make some sort of shade using newspaper and toothpicks.

No. You should actually turn down the brightness, as the sun is much > the backlight.
