I remember when portable computer first came out they were all called notebooks.
Laptop seems to be the more popular choice now

So what do you call it, laptop or notebook?

Technically, it depends on the size and dimensions of the "portable" computer Ready :)

a lot of computers are too hot to be called laptops.

the gaming ones are so big i've started calling them portables.

i go by "brand" when i refer to them.

I call it a laptop but I don't believe companies are allowed to call them that and instead call them notebooks because there have been lawsuits because of people being burned by the laptop (lol) running too hot. So either notebook or laptop.
