Laptop/Notebook to Replace my Desktop, need suggestions on vendors

Hey everyone,

Alrite, well the way it stands now, I alternate between school and work every 4 months, because of the co-op program at my university.

That being said, over the last couple terms I've realized that I can, and will be moving around a lot over the next 5 years, so thinking about it, I think investing in a laptop would be in my best interest, strictly for mobility reasons.

So I'm looking for input on good laptop vendors.. my only difficulty has been finding a laptop capable of replacing, my desktop.

I'm looking for both multimedia power and mobility, I know I could get one of the other, and I've looked to vendors like Dell and Toshiba, but I'm wondering if you guys have any input on this.

Basically, I'm looking for a strong multimedia machine (ie: RAM/Video), but also mobile, and not a monstrosity of a machine.

Thanks for help!

I'd go IBM personally. They are one of the few with good support today. You can get them resonably deckec out but that is their weekeness. They don't always have the exact specs your looking for. They also cost a bit but again the support may be worth it.

A IBM Thinkpad T42 would be a good pick. Built like a rock and decent tech support. If you've ever used a Thinkpad you'd know what I mean there just on another level compared to something like a Dell.
