I just recently bought a Dell Inspiron 8500. When browsing the web, the display of images is very bad. It appears as though they have been scratched out and none of the lines and straight and true. Sort of like the images are much more pixilated than anything else. The text that I am currently writing in on this board appears fine, however, the advertisement looks terrible. Below are my system specs. Thanks for your help.

1680 x 1050 Resolution
32 Bit Color Quality
NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go Video Card
15.4 Inch WSXGA+ Screen

Thanks, I had managed to figure it out last night by means of point and click -- all over the place.

I just got this Dell a week ago, what I went to was the Display Properties. The resolution was always at the native 1680x1050. I had clicked onto the Advanced tab and say that under the Display heading it had selected a "Large" screen resolution of 120 dpi rather than 90 dpi. After changing it to 90 dpi and resetting it looks like its working like a charm....

Thanks for your help.

great to hear.

you mentioned the advertisement looked bad.....but text looked good.....

to me that sounds like a 256color depth issue....make sure it's set to 16, 24, or 32bit......its on same page as desktop resolution.
