Laptop not recognizing the battery

About 45 minutes ago the battery on my laptop (IBM ThinkPad T20) was working just fine, and I let it charge up to 100%. Now all of the sudden it decides to (I think it hates me...) tell me that there's an error with the battery. I don't really know anything about laptops, but on the "Battery MaxiMiser" gauge, it's not even recognizing a battery, all it says is "error." The battery is in there correctly and I tried restarting, but I can't even turn it on without the AC adapter. Someone save me
