I have a Dell E6400 with a T9400 CPU @ 2.53GHz, 4GB ram.
At idle the CPU underclocks itself to 1.5GHz @ 0.95v but it is failing to come out of the low power state and the CPU is pegged at 100% even just watching a youtube video in firefox/IE8. This happens both in Windows 7 RC1 (brand new install) and Windows XP. Everything was working fine before but it started doing this about a month ago.
Even with the new Win7 install (done yesterday), when I first checked everything it was coming out of the low power state fine but today I was watching a youtube video and it started struggling and sure enough it's not changing the power state (checked with CPUz). The laptop is plugged into the wall socket by the way. And I notice the fan is also running full blast right now but the temps stay below 70C (from Coretemp) which is pretty good for a laptop right?
The only thing I installed is the flash player plugin. Could that have screwed something up?
Any suggestions?
