Ok, im working on the laptop for a friend the laptop has a history of damage it was damaged by alcohol(unless you know of a pink soda thats drank in dorms) about a year ago. Then it started working a month after the event. However, now the laptop has had a couple of problems their was a heat problem so i cleaned out the dust which seemed to be causing that. then a week later, when i hit the power button the lights flash and you can hear the hd begin to rotate then it all goes dead. Which happens to quickly for the lcd to boot. i tried replacing the battery which wasn't the problem. i tried replacing the hd which wasn't the problem. so im at a loss as to what it could be.

does any one have any idea what it could be?

PS:the remainder of the "soda" is dried isclusively a section of the base of the key board and the under the hindge cover and no where else that i noticed.
