Laptop Mouse: Touch Pad or Nipple?

When using a laptop computer, do prefer a touch pad mouse or a nipple mouse? I prefer nipple mice because I think touch pad mice are uncomfortable and hard to use. Why don't they sell laptops with nipple mice anymore? I can't even remember the last time I saw one in a store. Are they still made? It use to be so common.

EDIT:

It looks like the IBM Thinkpads have them.

Dell lattitudes all have the "nipple mouse". Suposedly the IBM's implementation is better but not to me. I have them both and I hate them all.

Maybe if I thought of them as nipples I would like them better?

Touch Pads 4-EVAH!

They are more commonly called eraser nubs. (at least for the past 13 years)

All IBM laptops still use them.

And you can buy one for your desktop. I find that I can type much better and faster with a mechanical keyboard. As a bonus they are made with pride in the USA vs every other keyboard that is made in China.

What I miss more than the eraser nub is the old IBM butterfly keyboard.

I've used touchpads on my Dells and find them very comfortable to use. I've tried to use the eraserhead and found it not to my liking, but some out there like it.

To each his own, What turns you on, then go for it.

Touchpads are like Mice, there are some good ones and some really horrible ones. Think generic ball mouse vs Logitech Optical Laser.

I cannot stand the "nipple"

touchpads, while not anywhere as good as a mouse, are far and away better.

the touchpad would always get in the way while i was typing and the pointer would go off somewhere else. Always used the trackpoint or regular mouse but i had 2 trackpoints crap out on my thinkpad even after cleaning.

They both suck. The J-point tends to make your fingertip numb with lots of use. The trackpad tends to work while you are typing. I have a HP/Compaq for the specific feature that it has that no one still yet offers, the little button above the touchpad. Yep, you can turn it off and on by pushing the button. We also have a MS mini optical USB mouse and a Wacom tablet. Unless space does not allow, I always use the Wacom or mini mouse.

Both suck. I use a trackball for all my systems whether its a laptop, mac or a desktop.

Between the touchpad and the pointing stick, I prefer the latter - but have always disabled BOTH and used a mini wireless mouse with scroll wheel. I really like the current crop of HP-Compaq laptops that have a simple on/off switch for the touchpad. That makes a lot of sense.

Both touchpads and pointing sticks interfere with typing and cause unpredictable cursor jumps.

I think I would dislike the keyboard made in america, because any company stupid enough to spend all the money manufacturing something electronic here would charge too much for a product that could obviously be made and sold cheaper from asia.

Ha ha.

Just realized what I really miss is my first laptop (DELL CPi or something) with the rollerball in place of the trackpad. I miss that. Wonder why they did not catch on.

OK, now you have me saying I like balls better than clits/nipples/.......
