Is there a way to access the harddrive of a laptop on my desktop pc since my laptop is dead ? Do i need a special cable or something ?

any help would be appreciated

thanks

I would put that drive in a 2.5" USB 2.0 external drive enclosure and connect to the desktop that way. It is only about $20.
The interface is different. You'll need a special converter if you can find one.

There are adapters that go from IDE to the laptop HDD. Try CompUSA/BB or if not in a hurry check Newegg.

Frys sells these for $6.99 - I have had to use it many times and it works perfectly.
