Laptop monitor never turns off

I'm confused to why it's doing this. I have for it set to "Do nothing" in the power management, because I do not want it to go into standby when the lid is closed. Monitor is set to turn off in 5 minutes and it does this when the lid is open, but not closed

any ideas on what I can do? I don't want this thing to sit on for 12-18 hours at a time

Look for a small pin/button at the base of the monitor. When the lid is closed, it pushes down and tells the monitor to do something like standby or simply turn off the monitor. It's possible that the pin may be broken.
