Laptop Mini PCIE WiFi adapter

A month ago I bought a new Asus VivoBook computer and it came with no 5GHZ wiFi :twisted: (Why I don't know when My old POS Gateway had it.) I can't swap the one from the Gateway as it has no BT 4.0 in fact no BT at all which I use for my mouse and headset

My question is does Asus BIOS lock to only their specific allowed cards (Like HP does?) and if not is there a good one out there to get? I want BT 4.0 and WiFi ABGN and concurrent dual band as my Netgear WNDR4500 supports it and I would like to take advantage of that

I also need one that has two antenna connections

Yeah, many Asus Computers are BIOS locked to specific components.

Is this a good way to tell if my specific model is BIOS locked?

If I take the card out of the gateway and insert it into the Asus (As a test before I buy a better WiFi/BT card) and the machine stops on post with an error about the WiFi card. Then I guess it is safe to assume that it is BIOS locked and if it does post (Without an error) is it also safe to assume that I can use any card I please?

Finding uniform set of rules among and within vendors his Not a viable assumption.

I have an HP Laptop that can take few Models of cards from different manufactures but nothing else.

The fact that another card might work, only signifies that the specific model of the second card is allowed in the BIOS and Not that any other card might work (or not).
