Laptop Memory Upgrade?

I have a Dell 700m preinstalled with 2x256 PC2700 ram. I want to upgrade to 2x512 and was wondering if I could replace the two 2700 with two 3200 (wouldn't mix and match obviously, but will this work)?

Any feedback is most appreciated.
 
I'm pretty sure that the chipset doesn't support RAM speeds above DDR333. Anything faster should just be clocked down to 333MHz.
 
Laptops are more picky about their memory than desktops. I would stick with 2700 just to be safe.

I would just add a 1 GB stick. The second memory slot is a little difficlt to access, and it would also allow you to drop in another 1 GB stick later on if you want. Cheaper and easier that way. It's not dual channel so there's no need to have matching sticks.

I bought mine with 256, and then dropped 1 GB into the free slot when I got it.
 
It should handle a PC 3200 memory upgrade without any problems. Also I agree there is no advantage to getting 2 sticks of memory when one will do the job...this is not a dual channel memory laptop so its of no advantage.
 
The only reason I was looking at 2x512 is their is a slight price break vs. 1 gig. I'd love to get 2 1 gig sticks, but out of my budget after buying this 700M Dell.
