laptop locks during suspend/hibernate.. whY??

as the topic states; my laptop will suspend/hibernate okay the first time i do it but after i wake and if i attempt to do it again without restarting it locks during the suspend/hibernate window where its getting all the stuff ready..

is this a problem within windows that i can fix or the laptop?

its a generic laptop but now i really need to use this feature and its not working well so its bugging me.... b4 i didnt care cuz it was always plugged in....

Have you tried looking for a Bios update for your laptop? Sometimes the issue is with the bios.
