is just not quite there for me.

As much as 7 ulti

First Linux Build.

Would like to do a clean sweep reformat and Linux Mate 64 bit.

I downloaded the .iso.

burned to disc.

made a reboot to cd.

went into bios and post to cd/dvd drive

restart laptop.

Would someone please give me an accurate description of how to
reformat with a fresh partition of Linux Mint 15 Mate, bios updates, oc hackz (better then overdrive), etc.

on my Toshiba Satellite.

Much obliged.

You might need to turn off UEFI in the BIOS for this to work properly. I don't know what the BIOS is like on those, but there will probably be one, maybe two, settings you need to change.

Went into advanced settings. Found that UEFI Boot was a gray almost mate color.

Making it very difficult to change that specific setting.

perhaps, another setting needs to be changed, allowing it work.

everything at factory defaults and the UEFI boot is the last boot on the priority.

don't know how to get rid of it out right.

Sounds like it. I have seen some computers with an OS option that sets this (my laptop does this).

If you still can't find it, give me the exact model number and let's see if we can google some BIOS menus for that one.

Do you have an option in your BIOS called Launch CSM (might be under boot options). If you do, what is it set to?

my bios is currently 6.40

There is no Launch CSM. or Clear CMOS option.

even under boot

bios seems a bit sparse to what a PC is.

boot mode is set to UEFI and there is no clear way to disable it at this point.

It runs the UEFI mode before Win8 startup and i precede to ESC.

Urging Win8 to let me use Linux.

and Win8 laughs and says no...

thanks for your help ketchup.

toshiba forums spoke of a prophesy, where
you would be able to put your BIOS in a
"compatibility mode "

I noticed that my bios 6.41 doesn't support this
so called....

compatibility mode.

The gentlemen at the bottom of Toshiba's support
found the answer, although, he didn't deceide to tell anyone.

Now that I have had some time to think about this, I wonder if the first change needs to be made in the Windows Toshiba UEFI software. I am not sure what all your options are, but I could take a look this evening if you still need some help here.
