I have a Gateway Solo 9300 I just got used. I put Windows ME on it and for
some reason (driver issue?) the left mouse button every now and then just decides
to click. Is this a common problem with an easy fix? Or should I put a new OS on it?

Thanks for any help

Sounds like a driver issue. If you have a Microsoft Mouse, you can find the latest software(which includes the latest drivers) on their website under their mouse website. If it is another brand, see if their website has the latest drivers for WinME. I had a friend who had this problem. He told me that he had re-installed his OS because he got tired of this problem. He had not tried the latest mouse drivers.

well its not a Microsfot Mouse. Its the touch pad on the laptop. I just install XP on it
and it does the samething. Weird I kind of tap around on it to see if maybe the mouse
is accidently going off but that doesn get it to "click". It still seems like a driver thing but
I dont know might be something wrong with the touch pad itself??

I had a similiar problem on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8000), but it doesn't exactly match yours, so I'll just offer this as anecdotal evidence. My Dell has one of the eraser-style pointing thingies in the middle of the keyboard as well as a touch pad, and I found that if I disabled the eraser-thingie's Press to Select option, the random clickings would go away. Hope this helps some
