Laptop LCD replacement

I dropped a Thinkpad(A21E w/ 14.1 in Display), and am wondering if I could buy another 14.1 on ebay and use the IBM connectors. In other words, do all LCDs come with a standard plug that can be attached by the proper cable to it's vid card. Replacement from IBM was 901$, and since I paid 999$ total, I find this a bit extreme. If not, could a converter of sorts be made?

No and yes. Not ALL14.1" LCD's are compatible, but there are ones that are cross compatible. Just the other day, had an LCD that no other LCD was compatible with. Yet some other LCD's can be swapped for others with no problem. Just to give you an idea, a company offered me a generic LCD (not OEM, would not be covered under manufacturers warranty) for $450 + ship. An OEM LCD would run about $600-700. Keep in mind, these prices are wholesale and we usually buy several at a time. $901.00 for a 14.1" LCD is actually a good price.
