Laptop LCD Inverter Gone Bad

I have a HP zt1175 and the inverter has gone bad. The backlights keep shutting off and I'm sure it is the inverter since it is very common to this model. Previously on this laptop I replaced the thermal paste on the CPU and resoldered the power plug on the laptop because it had a loose connection so I'm not afraid of working on it.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to fix an inverter. On top of that, new inverters are typically $20-$40 range on ebay or other online vendors. I wouldn't waste my time with it.
