Laptop LCD display died, or did it?

Any one know any reason a laptop lcd display would just stop working for a month, then start working perectly again for a few hours and then just go really dim? Its a x1000 compaq with a 15.4" wide screen lcd and a mobility radeon 9200 gfx card.

I dont think its possesed but i wont rule that out.

Maybe one of the wires in the hinge is broken and only making partial contact.

perhaps its adjusting to the battery? is the laptop plugged in? do you have it set to always on or home/desktop?

doesnt seem to matter if its plugged in or not. How would i check and see if the wire in the hinge is broken?

Originally compaq said the lcd backlight was burned out, but how could that be if it just started working again randomly?

started to try and take the lcd apart but i couldnt figure out where exactly how to get it off. Anyone know where a guide for taking a compaq x1000 apart might be?
