Laptop LCD dead?

Hello recently my laptop's LCD has started acting funny, the screen remains black, and flickers just as I power it on, and I can barely see a difference.

Could this LCD have bitten the dust now?

Thanks 🙂

You might want to make sure that whatever mechanism is in place to tell the notebook to shut off the LCD when the cover is in place is free. That was a long sentence and didn't make much sense...

I have a similar problem with a laptop once... it turned out that there was a tiny pin that was stuck. This pin was above the keyboard, near the hinges and its purpose was to shut off the screen when the LCD was folded down. Anyway... this guy thought the LCD was going bad too... it turned out that a little bit of dirt was holding the pin down so that it didn't pop back up when the LCD was opened. I just flicked the end of it with my finger and it popped up and the screen came back on... it was actually on the whole time, just REALLY, REALLY dim.

Something I have seen in several brands of laptops lately is that the connection between the FL harness and the FL inverter becomes "corroded". I don't know if it is from incompatible metals or connections that are experiencing arcing. To see if this is the case, open up the LCD module and reseat the connection from the cable to the FL inverter, not from the FL inverter to the FL tube that is in the screen, a few times and see if your problem goes away. If it doesn't, then your bulb is probably going out. It is possible that the FL inverter is going bad, but most just go out completely.
