Laptop keyboard not working help

My daughter spilled a bunch of water on my laptop. I did not notice this for a while. I turned it off, removed the battery, let it dry.
I fired it up today and some keys are not working.
I removed the keyboard, checked the connections and everything looks okay.
I am wondering if the keyboard or the mother board has gone bad.
$18 for a new keyboard.
What makes me worry is that the keys that dont work are spread through the keyboard.
Specifically the 1, 3, q, t, p and - keys don't appear to work.
So they aren't in one generally area.
I hate to throw away $18.
Is there a way to test whether my laptops mobo has gone bad or if it is the keyboard.
FYI everything else works just fine.
