Laptop Keyboard Dead???

A friend spilt some drink on his keyboard. The keys are very sticky. When you press a key it stays down, like when you press s you get ssssssssssssssssssssssssss. So what I did was take the keyboard out and poured some rubbing alcohol on it and presses the keys a couple hundred times. Suprisingly all the keys felt good as in popped right back up after pressing them. I dried the keyboard off real good. Probably should have let it air dry overnight, but plugged it up, fired up the PC and had the same problem, keys acting like they were still sticking. Then the keys just totally quit working. Press any key and get nothing. I rechecked the cable connection, it was good. What I would like to know is did the keyboard just totally die OR could there be something else on the motherboard causing the problem? I did not look like any liquid got into the case. I'm thinking the keyboard just died and I need to replace, but wanted some more opinions. Thanks inadvance!!!

remove the keyboard again, clean each key with windex, q-tips and damp cloth, let it air dry for 48-hours before re-attaching it, if this doesn't work the sensors on the keyboard may have been damaged from the liquid.

Thanks for the advice. The laptop got to where it would not even come on. Would not even charge unless the keyboard was disconnected. Totally ded with keybord connected. I ordered a new one.
