laptop kept on freezing and unfreeze...

its my sister's asus laptop, pen II 400 I guess,

it will freeze after 20 or so mins upon boot, and it occurs randomly.
it will freeze for a good 5-20 minutes and unfreeze.

is it cooling or other reasons?

the fan does spin occasionally though and I can hear it Loud and Clear.
